Fake President is Exhibiting Signs of Extreme Hysteria

By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
NDFP Chief Political Consultant
17 June 2006

Gloria M. Arroyo, the fake president, is apparently under the strain of her political isolation and is exhibiting extreme signs of hysteria by proclaiming that she can destroy the revolutionary movement in the next one or two years by simply providing the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) with more funds and arms.

She forgets that since the time of Marcos, the AFP and PNP have received hundreds of billions of pesos from the budget of the reactionary government as well as large quantities of weapons and other equipment from the US. But they have utterly failed to destroy the Communist Party of the Philippines, the New People's Army and other revolutionary forces of the Filipino people.

Arroyo is oblivious of the fact that the ruling system is afflicted with an unprecedentedly severe socio-economic crisis. The reactionary government is bankrupt. It is sinking in local and foreign indebtedness and is using more than 300 billion pesos of its budget for debt service. The people are made to suffer an increased tax burden under conditions of economic depression and massive unemployment.

Consequently, the ruling system is in a grave political crisis. The Arroyo clique has sharpened contradictions within the reactionary classes of big compradors and landlords and among the bureaucrats and armed personnel of the state through electoral fraud, unbridled corruption, persecution of the opposition, gross human rights violations and the charter-change scheme to further entrench the ruling clique in power and violate the national and democratic rights of the people.

The broad masses of the people are outraged by the crimes of the Arroyo regime. They are waging all forms of struggle to further weaken, isolate and oust the Arroyo ruling clique. The current bloodthirsty hysterics of Gloria M. Arroyo show that she has a penchant for state terrorism, that she is overdependent on military force and that she is against the resumption of formal talks in the GRP-NDFP peace negotiations.

The broad united front of patriotic forces and the broad masses of the people are being challenged to do their best to remove her from power and pave the way for an earnest resumption of the peace negotiations. A just and lasting peace cannot be achieved with a regime that is obsessed with seeking to destroy the revolutionary movement.

The GRP-NDFP peace negotiations can progress only by addressing the roots of the armed conflict and arriving at agreements on social, economic and political reforms that are truly beneficial to the Filipino people. ###
