“Prof. Jose Maria Sison is No Criminal!” NDFP-Monitoring Committee
assails conspiracy of persecution

National Democratic Front of the Philippines
Monitoring Committee
30 August 2007

“Prof. Jose Maria Sison is not a criminal. He is a patriot and an exceptional freedom fighter of the Filipino working class and people!”

This was declared by Fidel V. Agcaoili, chairman of the NDFP-Monitoring Committee, in response to the Arroyo government’s stepped-up vilification campaign against Prof. Jose Maria Sison on top of his unjust arrest and detention in The Netherlands.

“There is an obvious conspiracy by the Philippine and Dutch governments to persecute Prof. Sison politically” said Agcaoili. “This is very evident with the resurrection of trumped-up murder charges against him by Dutch authorities courtesy of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines.”

Agcaoili assailed the charge of murder or ordering the murder of Kintanar and Tabara slapped against Prof. Sison as “pure fabrication, politically-motivated and an instrument of persecution. He should be released immediately and unconditionally”.

He cited that the same charge has already been dismissed wholesale by the Supreme Court in 2007 and that the highest court in the Philippines has already exonerated Prof. Jose Maria Sison together with 50 other co-accused progressives.

At the moment, the cited murder charge “has no corresponding case in Philippine courts”, Agcaoili added.

Agcaoili asserted that Prof. Jose Maria Sison has been subjected to a series of false and politically-motivated charges by the Philippine military and intelligence agencies ranging from the Plaza Miranda bombings, multiple murder and rebellion in 1988, 1991, 2003 and 2006.

“But one after the other, these charges have been dismissed and nullified by Philippine courts in 1992, 1994 and 2007.” says Agcaoili.

According to Agcaoili, Prof. Jose Maria Sison is currently undergoing intense interrogation for charges “spewed maliciously by Arroyo’s cabal of militarists and psy-war agents and regurgitated by Dutch police and intelligence in a conspiracy of persecution”.

The NDFP-Monitoring Committee chairman also assailed the war crimes and crimes against humanity perpetrated by Mrs. Arroyo and her minions.

“The real criminals and murderers are Mrs. Arroyo, Sec. Raul Gonzales, National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales, Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye and the others in the Cabinet Oversight Committee on Internal Security,” said Agcaoili.

“They are the masterminds in the extrajudicial killings of more than 800 people, hundreds of enforced disappearances and the displacement of more than a million Filipinos from their communities in their all-out war against the revolutionary movement in furtherance of Oplan Bantay Laya I and II.,”Agcaoili averred.

“They are exhilarated and continue to malign Prof. Jose Maria Sison while he languishes in solitary confinement and unable to defend himself. But this will be short-lived. The Filipino people know the real culprits to their prolonged misery and are more than ever determined to continue their struggle to rid themselves of this rotten and barbaric regime”, Agcaoili concluded. #
