Contrastive Historic Photos of Jose Maria Sison with Two Presidents: Ferdinand Marcos in 1977 and Cory Aquino in 1986. The first photo was immediately after his capture by reactionary military on November 10, 1977 and the second was immediately after his release from military detention on March 5, 1986.
The 1977 capture of Sison did not result in the end of the people’s war against the Marcos fascist dictatorship. As he said, “The reactionaries can imprison me but not the revolutionary movement”. Ultimately, Marcos was overthrown in 1986 by the convergence of the advance of the people’s war, the resurgence of the legal mass movement and the withdrawal of support from him by his own armed forces.
