Reflections on Revolution and Prospects is a book-length structured interview of Jose Maria Sison

“The Chinese have militarized the artificial islands they built in the West Philippine Sea and will certainly demand that they be allowed to provide and field their own security forces for the protection of Chinese projects and personnel in the Philippines. However, we cannot say fully how fast and how far the collaboration or contention between the US and China would evolve.”
Reflections on Revolution and Prospects is a book-length structured interview of Jose Maria Sison, Founding Chairman of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and Chairperson of the International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS) by his fellow political scientist Rainer Werning, a renowned scholarly expert on Philippine and East Asian politics and current affairs.

The interviewer and the interviewee succeed once more in using the format that they used in co-authoring an earlier work, The Philippine Revolution: the Leader’s View in 1988, more than thirty years ago. Since then, tremendous events with significant implications and con-sequences have occurred in the world and in the Philippines. Sison, the main subject of the book, has been widely recognized as an authority on these events as a public intellectual and analyst as well as a resolute and militant political actor, especially in the Philippines. He stands on the solid ground as the CPP founding chairman and ILPS chairperson when he speaks on Philippine and global issues.
