ILPS Endorses and Supports
the March on Washington on Jan. 27

By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
Chairperson, International Coordinating Committee
International League of Peoples' Struggle
January 22, 2007

We, the International League of Peoples' Struggle, hereby reiterate our solidarity with the American people in demanding the end of the US invasion and occupation of Iraq and the withdrawal of US military forces.

We endorse the March on Washington on Saturday, January 27. We support the efforts of the United for Peace and Justice, MoveOn.org, True Majority, Working Assets, the RainbowPUSH Coalition, the National Organization for Women and the hundreds of other national and local groups to mobilize the largest possible number of people to converge on Washington.

We call on all the member-organizations of the ILPS in the US to mobilize their members and friends to join the March and to do everything possible to help ensure its success in accordance with the broad united front and technical guidelines issued by the coordinators.

It is of urgent necessity to remind the US Congress of the Mandate for Peace that the American electorate has so clearly made since last November. The American people must reiterate their demand to end the US invasion and occupation of Iraq and bring home the US troops.

We condemn the desperate drive of the Bush regime to escalate the war of aggression and the rapacious attempts of the military-industrial complex, the oil companies, the big banks and corporate mass media to work out behind the scenes bipartisan compromises against the will of the American people.

We support the demand of the American people for the US Congress to pursue investigations to bring out the truth and carry out actions to uphold justice concerning the high crimes committed by the Bush regime. The worst of these crimes is the war of aggression which has involved the wanton destruction of the lives and property of the Iraqi people and wasting the lives and limbs of US troops and the financial resources of the American people.

The Bush regime is accountable for carrying out a war of aggression on the basis of lies, for using US military, financial and other public resources to serve the imperialist greed for the oil resources of Iraq and letting corruption thrive in the making of all sorts of war-related contracts with US companies and for promoting the curtailment of civil and political rights in the US and on a global scale under the pretext of a permanent and preemptive "global war on terror".

We wish the American people to achieve the utmost success in undertaking the March on Washington. May this further strengthen them in their struggle for greater freedom, democracy, justice and peace! ###
