Current concerns and prospects regarding Aquino Regime
Interview with Prof. Jose Maria Sison,
Founding Chairman of the Communist Party of the Philippines
and Chief Political Consultant of the National Democratic Front
By Ang Bayan, June 19, 2010
1. Could you describe in brief the conduct and results of the past reactionary elections? How would you describe the electoral victory of Benigno Aquino III? What was the role in this of the US imperialists (and other key forces) and how would this affect the incoming Aquino regime? more...

INTERVIEW WITH PROF. JOSE MARIA SISON
ON NOYNOY AQUINO AND RELATED ISSUES

By Roselle Valerio
Liberation International
15 June 2010
1. Noynoy Aquino seems to play the teflon game and ignore what you say against him. But he lets others hit you and make ad hominem attacks against you. Are you not afraid of taking on someone like Aquino who has just been elected supposedly by a large vote and has a powerful propaganda machinery that can be used against you? more...

ON ELECTION BY PRE-PROGRAMMING
AND OTHER MATTERS RELATED TO AQUINO

By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
Chief Political Consultant
NDFP Negotiating Panel
12 June 2010
I believe that the new reactionary regime headed by Noynoy Aquino is mendaciously and immorally founded on at least three things: first, false election through pre-programming by the foreign-controlled automated electoral system without the required safeguards; second, his false promise of eradicating corruption without doing away with the systemic collaboration of the foreign monopoly capitalists and the local big comprador-landlords like him; and third, his false promise to hold Gloria M. Arroyo accountable for crimes of corruption and human rights violations. more...

INTERVIEW WITH PROF. JOSE MARIA SISON
ON THE INCOMING AQUINO REGIME

Translation of Pilipino original
By Ilang-iIlang Quijano
Pinoy Weekly
7 June 2010
1. Why do you think Noynoy Aquino won in the last election?
JMS: Noynoy Aquino won because prior to the elections he had been chosen by the US imperialists and the local ruling classes of big compradors and landlords to be the new president of the ruling system. Despite his pretense at relying on one-peso donations from the common people, it was the big foreign and Filipino businessmen that poured the massive financial support to his campaign. more...

In the strongest terms, we the International League of Peoples' Struggle condemn as a crime against humanity the barbaric attack by the Israeli navy on the Freedom Flotilla of six boats from several countries, with more than 700 unarmed people on board carrying 10,000 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Reports say that at least 19 people have been killed and scores wounded in the attack. INTERVIEW WITH PROF. JOSE MARIA SISON
ON THE 2010 ELECTIONS IN THE AFTERMATH

By D. L. Mondelo
Correspondent, Bulatlat
22 May 2010
1. What can you say about the conduct of the 2010 elections?
JMS: The conduct of the 2010 elections shows the rottenness of the US-dominated ruling system of big compradors and landlords. It was a process dominated by the coalitions, parties and candidates of the reactionary ruling classes. Beforehand, it excluded the leaders of the working people who were repressed or who were without campaign funds. It was merely a personality-based contest of the political agents of the same exploiting classes. more...

1. Our interview on the 2010 elections last week attracted a great deal of attention from the top mass media in Manila and elicited reactions from certain major political quarters. First of all, what do you think of the reaction of the presidential spokesman Gary Olivar? He said to the effect that because you had expressed support for Manny Villar you accepted the existing ruling system and that you would be amenable to a peace agreement without any revolutionary change. more...

Ang Paborito Kong Tula
By Pinoy Weekly Staff
29 March 2010
Jose Maria Sison, makata, rebolusyonaryo

Statement on the occasion of the death anniversary

By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
Chairperson, International Coordinating Committee
International League of Peoples' Struggle
Since oil was discovered in the Niger delta in the last days of British colonial rule in the late 1950s, the lands of the Ogoni people and other indigenous ethnic groups have been snatched away for the development of oil fields for Royal Dutch Shell, Chevron, Exxon-Mobil, Julius Berger and other oil companies. Since then Nigeria has become increasingly dependent on petroleum extraction as agricultural production of both cash and food crops were abandoned. From high levels in the 1960s, Nigeria has dropped in cocoa production by nearly half and rubber production by a third in the early 2000s. more...

Professor Roland G. Simbulan (RGS): What makes a U.P. graduate unique? Or, what is, "Tatak U.P.?"
Professor Jose Maria Sison (JMS): The U.P. graduate is unique by being part of the cream of the educated elite. He or she is among the brightest and most competent in his or her profession. He or she is supposed to be often at least patriotic and liberal-minded in a conservative or progressive way or sometimes a revolutionary activist along the line of the national democratic revolution, especially since the militant mass actions of the 1960s. Tatak UP na pinakamatingkad ay matalino, mahusay, makabayan at progresibo. (Translation: The most outstanding mark of the the UP is: Intelligent, competent, patriotic and progressive.) more...

The Anti-Terrorism Act (Act No. 9372 or the Human Security Act of 2007) is part of the global wave of fascist legislation and state terrorism generated by the so-called global war on terror under the Bush regime of the US government. Aside from being a tool of US imperialism, the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) is a repressive tool of the Arroyo regime for intimidating and suppressing the people's democratic movement and the broad range of opposition forces. more...

Jose Maria Sison (JMS): The regime is just pretending to propose the general amnesty to show that it is in a high moral and political position. Pinoy Weekly (PW): Magandang araw!

Even without the Anti-Terror Act, euphemistically called the Human Security Act of 2007, the US-directed Arroyo regime has unleashed the counterrevolutionary military and police forces on the people and spurred them to commit all kinds of barbarities, including the massacre and massive displacement of people in the countryside and the extrajudicial killing, abduction and torture of so many unarmed legal activists. 1. What is the impact of the fall of the Berlin Wall on the Communist Party of the Philippines?
Answer: The 1989 fall of the Berlin wall signalled the disintegration of the Soviet Union and all the revisionist regimes in the Soviet bloc. It has vindicated the antirevisionist position of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP). At its reestablishment in 1968, the CPP adopted the fundamental line of upholding Marxism-Leninism and opposing the modern revisionism that the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) had been spreading since Khrushchov came to power in 1956. more...

Statement on the Israeli-US War of Aggression Against the Lebanese and Palestinian People
By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
Chairperson, International Coordinating Committee
International League of Peoples' Struggle
12 August 2006
We, the International League of Peoples' Struggle (ILPS), strongly condemn the ongoing barbaric attacks of the Israeli military on the people of Lebanon and Palestine. Under the pretext of rescuing Israeli soldiers captured by Hamas and Hezbollah, the Zionist Israeli government has unleashed wave upon wave of air, naval and ground attacks on the civilian populations of Lebanon and Palestine. These unbridled acts of international terrorism are emboldened and supported by US imperialism. more...

Bagman of the Ruling Couple is Faking Persecution by NPA
By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
NDFP Chief Political Consultant
27 July 2006
Everyone knows that former undersecretary of agriculture Jocelyn "Jocjoc" Bolante is running away from the findings of the Philippine Senate that he is the key operator in the malversation of the so-called fertilizer fund amounting to 2.8 billion pesos and the rechanneling of these for vote-buying in the 2004 presidential elections and for the personal enrichment of Gloria M. Arroyo and Mike Arroyo. more...

On the Collapse of WTO Talks
Issued by the Office of the Chairperson
Through the General Secretariat,
International League of Peoples' Struggle (ILPS)
26 July 2006
The collapse of World Trade Organization (WTO) talks on the so-called Doha Development Agenda is a welcome development for the people of the world. It means that the imperialist powers have been stymied, even if only momentarily, from imposing its expansive agenda of further opening up neocolonial markets. It also exposes the emptiness of the WTO's development rhetoric: the likes of the United States (US) and the European Union (EU) are in the end only concerned about protecting and promoting their respective monopoly advantages, supports and superprofits. The US in particular has once again shown its arrogant and unilateralist streak. more...

We, the International League of Peoples' Struggle (ILPS), hereby strongly condemn Israel and the United States for the recent barbaric attacks of the Israeli army on Palestine and Lebanon. These unbridled acts of international terrorism against the civilian populations are emboldened and supported by US imperialism. more...

Arroyo Regime is Trying to Terrorize the People and Justify Assaults on Unarmed Demonstrators
By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
NDFP Chief Political Consultant
23 July 2006
By recycling the old lie that I instead of Marcos masterminded the 1971 Plaza Miranda and by repeatedly claiming for so many days already that the New People's Army (NPA) is poised to infiltrate and attack anti-Arroyo rallies, the Arroyo regime and its military and police minions are trying to terrorize the people and frighten them from joining the demonstrations on the day that Gloria M. Arroyo delivers another mendacious state-of-the-nation address (SONA). more...

Preconditioning the Resumption of Formal Talks with Capitulation is Completely Absurd
By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
NDFP Chief Political Consultant
9 July 2006
It is completely absurd for Gloria M. Why and How the AFP and PNP are Losing the War
By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
NDFP Chief Political Consultant
1 July 2006
Oplan Bantay Laya is now on its fifth year since its formal launching in early 2002. It has utterly failed to accomplish its declared objective of destroying the New People's Army (NPA). It has only served to fan the flames of the armed revolution by subjecting the people to brutal campaigns of suppression in guerrilla fronts and unleashing extrajudicial killings and abductions against the legal opponents of the Arroyo regime. more...

NDFP Must Converse With Opposition Forces Concerning Peace Negotiations
By Prof. Jose Maria Sison

30 June 2006
The Arroyo regime has repeatedly made the categorical declaration that it has shut the door to the resumption of formal talks in the GRP-NDFP peace negotiations and is only interested in carrying out its all-out war policy and pursuing surrender talks with local groups which they expect in vain to draw away from the centralized leadership of the armed revolutionary movement. more...

Gloria M. March 13, 2006
Gloria M. Arroyo and her loyalist retinue of bureaucratic and military psywar operatives continue to spin stories about an military-communist coup conspiracy and coup attempt supposedly foiled on February 24. Interview with Prof. Jose Maria Sison
by Glenda Gloria,
Managing Editor, Newsbreak Magazine
March 6, 2006
Just a few follow-up questions to your statement on the communist-military tieup. We are doing the full story on what transpired on Feb.21-24. I'd appreciate if you could share with me your insights.
1.) My sources within the rebel military movement insist that the RAM elders held "initial talks" with the members of the CPP central committee principally on the issue of how to bring about a better political system post-GMA. Inevitably, how to go there-- ousting GMA first -- was discussed. Without delving on tactical details, would such talks be against the CPP strategy or tactics? Is the CPP completely averse to any alliance, tactical or otherwise, with what it deems to be probably "progressive" members of the Armed Forces (of course, I'd rather not call Gringo progressive) but I have no better term for the junior officers? more...

Debunking the Big Lie of Arroyo About Military-Communist Coup Plot
By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
NDFP Chief Political Consultant
5 March 2006
As in Edsa 1 and Edsa 2, the officers and units of the military and police of the reactionary government can withdraw support from the Arroyo regime and yet do not carry out a coup d'etat because they do not grab power for themselves and they do not violate the principle of civilian supremacy. They can play such a patriotic role which is needed and welcomed by the anti-Arroyo broad united front and the broad masses of the people. more...

Gloria M. It is a well-established and well-known fact that the broad united front of opposition parties, mass organizations and groups of retired and active military and police officers seek to oust the illegitimate, corrupt, brutal and treasonous Arroyo regime in a legal and peaceful way by mobilizing the broad masses to exercise their sovereign will and democratic rights and by encouraging the military and police forces to side with the people and withdraw support from the regime, as in Edsa 1 and Edsa 2. more...

Was the Left Left Behind at EDSA I ?
Question from Juan Sarmiento Jr.,

17 February 2006
It is factually wrong and unhistorical to air brush from the so-called Edsa I the two reality levels of what is loosely called Left: the protracted people's war led by the Communist Party of the Philippines (you may call it the underground Left) and the legal patriotic and progressive forces (the legal Left) of the national democratic movement best represented by BAYAN. more...

Interview with Prof. Jose Maria Sison on the Challenges to the Arroyo Regime
by Angel L. Tesorero
Pinoy Weekly (Filipino Weekly)
January 25, 2006
1) In our last interview, you said that "If GMA (Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo) were to last until 2006, ousting her would be bloody. Some anti-GMA factions in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) share your view. Recently, Presidential Chief of Staff Mike Defensor said that the Arroyo administration would confront fire with fire the armed threat (from rebel soldiers) against the government. What do you think of this?
JMS: The violence will come from GMA and her top subalterns in the chain of command of the AFP and PNP. Those at the top are her collaborators in electoral cheating, corruption, puppetry to the US imperialists and violating human rights. The anti-GMA officers and members of the military and police seek to accomplish a withdrawal of support from the GMA regime. But GMA, Mike Defensor and those in the top command proclaim a "fire against fire" policy against them. This leaves the anti-GMA officers and members of the military and police with no choice but to seek the swift arrest of GMA and her rabid collaborators. more...

Reform of UN Security Council Seeks to Reinforce Imperialist System of Aggression and Plunder
Issued by the Office of the Chairperson
International Coordinating Committee
International League of Peoples' Struggle
14 September 2005
Among the issues to be taken up at the UN World Summit from September 14 to 16 in New York is reform of the UN Security Council. While talk of reforming the Security Council has been going on since a long time ago, it was only in 1992 that serious steps were taken with a resolution by the Non-Aligned Movement calling for reform of the Security Council, followed by a resolution of the General Assembly asking the Secretary General to ask member states for written comments on Council reform. But the US and the imperialist powers with veto power in the UN Security Council and with financial control over the UN will allow only that of kind of reform which reinforces and favors the interests of imperialism against the people of the world and the client states. more...

UN Seccurity Council and Peacebuilding Commission are Instruments of Imperialist Aggression and Plunder
By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
Chairperson, International Coordinating Committee
International League of Peoples' Struggle
13 September, 2005
The UN World Summit on September 14 to 16 has a pretentious and deceptive agenda, from supposedly solving global poverty, debt and development to reforming the UN's two major organs - the Security Council (SC) and the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). However, the real objective of US imperialism and its allies is to give United Nations (UN) imprimatur to the US invasion and occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan through the creation of a Peacebuilding Commission. This is consistent with the role that the UN has played throughout much of its sixty-year history: an instrument to window-dress the bullying by the "great powers," notably the United States, of small and weaker developing states. more...

12 September 2005
Far from promoting global economic and social justice, the MDGs is a shrewd scheme of the imperialist powers to distract attention from structural issues that are the root cause of the chronic and worsening poverty which afflicts billions of people around the world today. Worse, the MDGs is being used to promote the same policy prescriptions of imperialist globalization that have hastened and aggravated the massive destruction of livelihood and economic opportunities in poor countries where more than 1 billion people are forced to survive on less than US$1 a day. more...

11 September 2005
The proposed Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) will be one more weapon of US imperialism for oppressing under the guise of combating terrorism persons and groups fighting for national liberation and social justice. It is principally a legal cover for the United States to intervene in the domestic affairs of other states. Articles 3 and 6 of the current draft legally allow the United States in conducting its "war on terror" to extend its police activities to all parts of the globe. more...

Prolongation of Arroyo Regime Aggravates Crisis of Ruling System
By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
NDFP Chief Political Consultant
July 17, 2005
As in counting votes, Gloria M. Arroyo and her subalterns engage in dagdag bawas (add-subtract) in counting rallyists. They claim that the anti-Arroyo rally of 30,000 people on July 8 was only 3000 to 10,000 and that of 70,000 to 80,000 on July 13 was only 9000 to 15,000 although some pro-Arroyo journalists concede that it was 40,000 or even 50,000. The July 13 rally in Makati was even more impressive if we consider that the police and military of the regime blocked many of the rallyists coming from Central and Southern Luzon. more...

The G8 promise of cancelling debts of some $40 billion for 18 Most Indebted Poor Countries (MIPC), upon the fulfillment of certain conditionalities, is being hailed as a "historic" deal and a "victory for millions." more...

It is Immoral for Aquino and Others to Condone the Crimes of Arroyo
By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
Chief Political Consultant
National Democratic Front of the Philippines
1 July 2005
It is immoral for Corazon Aquino and others to condone the crimes of Gloria M. Arroyo and help to keep her in power. Aquino is the least qualified to advice Susan Roces on the rule of law. She never filed an electoral protest to prove legally that she had been cheated by Marcos. Neither did she undertake impeachment proceedings against him. She became president in 1986 through the successful democratic mass actions of the sovereign Filipino people who ousted Marcos from power. more...

Bulatlat Interview with Prof. Jose Maria Sison
By Bobby Tuazon
Bulatlat
Bulatlat, a weekly online publication in the Philippines, would like to interview you as a political analyst and inspirational leader of the national democratic movement in the country with regards the current political crisis. The current political situation in the country, which has undergone two people's uprisings leading to the fall of two presidents (in 15 years) and another one - in just four years - unfolding, has created both disgust and frustration among many of your compatriots. Needless to say, the present situation is also opening opportunities for debates and mass protests over what is now appearing to be the most singular question: Is it a matter of replacing a president who has lost all credibility or is it already a matter of replacing a failed system. In this regard, there are at least four major options developing assuming that Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is forced to resign or is ousted by another political uprising: first, constitutional succession; second, a snap presidential election; third, military junta; and fourth, a transition or coalition government. more...

Ni Angel Tesorero
Pinoy Weekly

Some Questions on Kabataan Makabayan
Interview with Prof. Jose Maria Sison, KM Founding Chairman,
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the KM
30 November 2004
1. What internal and external events triggered the establishment of the Kabataang Makabayan (KM)?
JMS: In the Philippines during those times, there was an intense social crisis due to the new economic and financial crisis. The peso was rapidly devaluing due to the depletion of the dollar reserves under the policy of “decontrol”. There was the grave problem of high unemployment. Outside the country, the struggle against US imperialism in Asia, Africa, Latin America, especially in countries like Indonesia, Vietnam, Congo and Cuba, was intensifying. Under such a situation, it was propitious and greatly necessary to establish an organization like the KM. more...

Interview with Prof. Jose Maria Sison
By Alexander Martin Remollino
Bulatlat Online Magazine
September 21, 2004
1. In the ranks of the militant mass movement and among civil
libertarians and mainstream opposition groups, there is a perceptible common observation that the Macapagal-Arroyo administration is treading along the path that Marcos took in 1972. What are your comments on this?
* Reply: Indeed, there are striking similarities. The economic and social crisis of the ruling system is again extremely severe and the people are in deep discontent. The reaction of the reactionary ruling clique is to use and threaten the use of force against the people. But there are also striking dissimilarities in the situation, like the reactionary armed forces and police are fractious and the armed revolutionary movement of the people are far stronger than in 1972. The legal forces of the national democratic movement are also much stronger.* more...

Ka Joma,
Unlike the GRP, which is in fact a puppet and beggar to the US and other imperialist governments, the NDFP is an alliance of revolutionary forces that is determined to undertake anything (especially armed revolution) in order to achieve the people's demand for national liberation and democracy.  What the imperialists and their puppets  wish is to blackmail and pressure the revolutionary forces with the "terrorist" listing  and to cause their capitulation and destruction. more...

The US is so flagrantly hell-bent on holding on to the fruits of its criminal war of aggression against the people of Iraq. It wants to control and own the oil resources of Iraq in order to tighten its grip on the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. It wants to keep 14 US military bases and more than 135,000 US troops in Iraq in order to control the entire Middle East, allow Israel to slaughter the Palestinian people and humiliate all the Arab people. It is monopolizing all kinds of business priivileges and contracts, especially reconstruction contracts and military sales, in order to appropriate the oil resources and income of Iraq.more...

15 May 2004
As chief political consultant of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines, I am critical of the May 10, 2004 elections of the reactionary government in a fundamental way. These elections are mainly and essentially a contest for power among competing political factions and agents of the pro-imperialist exploiting classes of big compradors and landlords. These elections are not really democratic exercises. They are meant to exclude the genuine representatives of the toiling masses and other exploited people. more...

The US-Directed GMA-Reyes Tandem Blocks Formal GRP-NDFP Talks
By Prof. Jose Maria Sison

July 30, 2003
Their trick in preventing the peace negotiations is to insult and challenge the NDFP by repeatedly telling it to capitulate or else suffer the worst of military campaigns. The way of capitulation offered is the immediate signing of a "final peace agreement" one-sidedly made by the GRP. The worst of military campaigns are already being waged under the pretext of war against terrorism and are sustained by US military intervention and increased military supplies from the Pentagon. more...

Interview with Prof. Jose Maria Sison, Founding Chairman, Communist Party of the Philippines
by Arlene Burgos
Kyodo News-Manila Bureau
* what are the prospects of the ndf resuming peace talks with the government? will the ndf ever agree to the proposal for a single comprehensive agreement?
JMS Reply:  The Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP)  is blocking the resumption of the formal peace talks between the GRP and NDFP negotiating panels.  The obstacles put up by the GRP include the following:  the extreme puppetry of the Arroyo regime to the US, the all-out war policy against the revolutionary movement, the indecent proposal to scrap all previous joint agreements and the threats to label the NDFP as "terrorist" in a futile attempt to make it capitulate. more...
