ILPS Mesage of Solidarity to the Inititative for an International
Anti-imperialist, Anti-capitalist Meeting
By Jose Maria Sison

4 May 2006
On behalf of the International League of People's Struggle, I wish to express warmest greetings of solidarity to the initiators and
participants in the Initiative for an International Anti-Imperialist, Anti-Capitalist Meeting. We congratulate you for the success of your
preparations and we wish the utmost further success in the conduct of your three-day meeting.
We are hopeful that your meeting confronts the collusive as well as competing policies and actions of the US, European and other
imperialist powers in exploiting and oppressing the working people. As the crisis of the world capitalist system worsens, the imperialist
powers become more plunderous, repressive and bellicose.
They wish to continue drawing superprofits by further squeezing the workers, pressing down their wage and living conditions and
taking away their hard-won rights and benefits. They prey on the oppressed peoples of the world by deploying surplus goods and
capital in order to exploit cheap labor, grab the natural resources and expand the market. But the economic and financial crisis
inevitably worsens and ruins the lives of the people as well as the capitalist market.
We are confident that your meeting will reflect and amplify the current manifestations of popular resistance, such as the movement
against the invasion and occupation of Iraq, the leftward trend of movements in Latin America, the mass disapproval of the Euro
Constitution, the uprisings of the youth in France, the widespread strikes in Europe, the rejection of the Annan Plan by the people
of Cypriot, the spontaneous uprisings of the Chinese workers and peasants, the mass protests of immigrant workers in the US, and
so on.
At the same time, there are the armed revolutionary movements, such as those of the peoples of Iraq, Palestine, Turkey, Kurdistan,
Colombia, Nepal, Philippines, India, Tamil Eelam and other countries. Invoking national independence, several countries like Cuba,
Venezuela, Syria, Iran and North Korea are resisting imperialist intervention, embargoes, sanctions and other kinds of imposition.
We expect that your meeting will result in a higher level of unity and militancy against the US as the No. 1 imperialist and terrorist
power, against the collaboration of the European Union with the US in "free market" globalization and campaigns of terror and war
and against the opportunist and social democratic notion that the European Union can be the instrument of a humane and social-minded
kind of capitalism and imperialism.
We welcome your call for the strongest possible alliance and mobilization of forces, with grass roots unity in factories, unions, associations,
universities and neighborhoods. The International League of Peoples' Struggle offers a framework of coordination for revolutionary,
anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist forces and tendencies at the international, global regional and national levels.
It is fine that even as you differentiate yourselves from reformist and social democratic tendencies you hold out your hand for solidarity
and cooperation with radical, left and independent anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist formations that are still within the framework of the
World Social Forum. May they make advances against the Trotskyite, social democratic and reformist initiators of the World Social Forum.
We look forward to the success of your meeting in projecting the radical anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist forces and movements and in
promoting discussions of major issues, communications, common courses of action and coordination. We hope that your meeting leads
to the consolidation, expansion and broad alliance of the anti-imperialist and anti-capitalist forces in Greece and in Europe. ###
