Message of Greetings to the International Solidarity Evening
for Political Prisoners
London, United Kingdom
By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
Chairperson, International League of Peoples' Struggle
7 October 2006
On behalf of the International League of Peoples' Struggle (ILPS), I extend my most militant greetings of
solidarity to the organizers and participants of the International Solidarity Evening with Political Prisoners.
We thank and congratulate the organizers of this solemn event -- Activists of the People's Fadaii Guerrillas
of Iran - London, ATIK (Confederation of Workers from Turkey in Europe) - UK Section, Democratic
Anti-imperialist Organisation of Iranians in Britain, Indian Workers' Association in Britain (IWA), Migrante
International (Filipino Migrants Alliance), Solidarity Committee with Free Political Prisoners (OTDK) -- to
honor the brave men and women who fear neither suffering nor death in fighting for their lofty goal
of building a better world for humankind.
This event is specifically organized to express solidarity to political prisoners and victims of state repression
in Iran, Turkey, India and the Philippines. But I am sure that this event is also for all political prisoners and
victims of repression in other countries who are deprived of their freedom because they fight for the
freedom of the exploited and the oppressed masses.
The ILPS values highly the struggle for the freedom of political prisoners throughout the world. Support
for this struggle is one of the 18 concerns of ILPS. The League is an international alliance of fighting
organizations engaged in the struggle against imperialism and its lackeys around the world. In the
life-and-death struggle against imperialism and reaction, imprisonment, torture and death occur daily.
Political prisoners who fight imperialism and its lackeys suffer the worst violations of their rights and the
worst forms of inhuman and degrading treatment. They are vilified and demonized. They are tortured
or killed in prison. But they continue the struggle even under the most difficult circumstances of captivity.
The struggle of revolutionaries in prison is an important part of the over-all revolutionary struggle. The
violence and suffering that they endure steel them as a furnace does and transform them into even
more resolute fighters against exploitation and oppression.
The League is more determined than ever to take up the struggle for the freedom of all anti-imperialist
and progressive political prisoners the world over. It is determined more than ever to fight imperialism
and all reaction for national independence, democracy and social liberation.
FREEDOM TO ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS!
DOWN WITH IMPERIALISM AND REACTION!
ADVANCE THE PEOPLES'STRUGGLE FOR NATIONAL AND SOCIAL LIBERATION!
