Message of Solidarity to LFS on Its 14th National Congress By Jose Maria Sison May 20, 2003 I am happy to convey warmest greetings of solidarity to the leadership, general membership and chapters of the League of Filipino Students (ILPS) on the occasion of its 14th National Congress. Your theme is of urgent importance. I appreciate it as a timely call for action: Further consolidate and expand the LFS! Intensify the struggle against imperialist aggression! Join the masses in isolating and ousting the US-Macapagal-Arroyo regime! Your congress is an occasion for further consolidation in preparation for the expansion of the LFS at the national and chapter levels. You must assess and evaluate your present strength. You must consider the worsening crisis of the domestic ruling system and world capitalist system as favourable conditions for further strengthening the LFS. You must clarify your tasks and understand the methods for carrying them out. Along the general line of national liberation and democracy, you must intensify your struggle against the escalating oppression and exploitation inflicted on the people and the student masses by US imperialism and the local reactionary classes represented by the Macapagal-Arroyo regime. You must stand up firmly and act militantly against the scheme to violate national sovereignty and territorial integrity, auction off the national patrimony and economy to the foreign monopolies, bring in US interventionist troops and re-establish US military bases and repress the broad masses of the people. You must struggle against the rapidly increasing rapacity and aggressiveness of the imperialist hyper-power and super-terrorist, the United States. Through struggle, you must define and develop the role of the LFS as the spearhead and flag-bearer of the anti-imperialist youth and student movement. You must arouse, organize and mobilize the student masses in a big way. The LFS must have a broad mass character. The progressive section must encourage the middle and backward sections to advance further. You must have definite plans of political education, recruitment and mass activities. I am informed that you intend to help build and support the party list of the youth in the forthcoming elections. I believe that with your current strength and prestige you can contribute significantly to the success of the project. It is important and necessary for the LFS and other patriotic and progressive youth organizations to mobilize the great number of votes of the youth to elect representatives of the youth in every available national forum. Julie and I take this opportunity to thank you for the publication and release of the second edition of the compilation of our messages to LFS. We are deeply pleased and honoured that you have considered our messages as useful in providing some guidance to your political work among the student masses. We wish your congress the utmost success. Further, we wish the LFS to win ever greater victories in arousing, organizing and mobilizing the student masses on an ever wider scale and thereby bring the student movement to a new and higher level of strugglein the context of the people’s struggle for national liberation and democracy.### |
