MESSAGE ON THE LAUNCHING OF THE PILIPINO EDITION OF STRUGGLE FOR NATIONAL DEMOCRACY As author, I am elated that Struggle for National Democracy is published in Pilipino. In the most profound way, I thank the Amado V. Hernandez Resource Center, the College Editors’ Guild, the translators and editors for realizing the publication of the book. Likewise, I thank Prof. Edberto M. Villegas for his serious and weighty introduction. I am happy to learn from you that Struggle for National Democracy is regarded as a classic and basic reading material, especially among the youth activists in the national-democratic movement. The book is significant, relevant and useful while the semicolonial and semifeudal system persists and it is necessary to continue the national democratic revolution against US imperialism and the local exploiting classes of big compradors and landlords. I agree with all those who worked hard for this Pilipino edition that it will become an even more effective weapon than the previous editions in English because it is immediately comprehensible to far more Filipino readers. I hope that the readers are inspired to participate in the struggle for national liberation and democracy against imperialism, feudalism and bureaucrat capitalism. I urge them to link their understanding of the book to the chain of revolutionary writings and mass struggles of the Filipino people since the first edition of the book in 1967 I call on them to propagate the basic principles in the book and ensure the reinvigoration of the national democratic movement among the youth and the entire people.
